GOD’S STANDARD WILL—NO EXCEPTIONS

IMG_0066

No matter if you live in the east or west, the north or south. Whether you’re male or female, young or old. No mater if you live in the city or in the country. Whether you are in junior high or employed in a high rise office building, God’s standard will is for all. God’s will is for the freshman college student, the homeschool mom, the factory worker, and the waitress. God’s  standard will is for those in the ministry, in the coal mines, or deliver the mail. If you are a high school senior or an empty nester, there are specific things you need not pray whether it’s God’s will, because God’s Word makes it crystal clear that it’s His will for everyone—no exceptions. Before you attempt to discover God specific will for your life, you must first accept and obey God’s standard will. Seeking God’s specific will while ignoring God’s standard will is pointless because God only reveals the specifics of His will to those who are obedient to His Word.

“If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.” (John 7:17)

Searching for specifics is putting the cart before the horse if you are not obeying the basics of God’s standard will. Start by following God’s clearly revealed instructions, and you can be sure
God will lead you in the specific details and decisions throughout your life. It’s comical to watch a young child run the bases before they learn the basics of baseball. Running the bases is not complicated; even if someone has never played the game. But they must be run in the proper order: first base, second base, third base, and then home plate. It’s very simple. So is the will of God. However, it’s not so comical when a person becomes convinced they are the exception, and able to skip the clear commands of Scripture. That only leads to decisions of regret. If you truly desire God’s best, you must start with God’s standard will. Satan wants to confuse Christians about God’s will. The Devil endeavors to make God’s will so complex and complicated it seems like an impossible mystery to solve.

“For God is not the author of confusion…” (1 Corinthians 14:33)

The Devil wants you to feel the will of God is unrealistic. Here’s the good news: the will of God is knowable and doable! Don’t take my word for it. Listen to what the Scriptures say.

“Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.” (Ephesians 5:17)

“For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;” (Colossians 1:9-10)

“He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?” (Micah 6:8)

Before delving into the details of life’s decisions, be sure you are obedient to the basics of God’s will revealed in His Word. Are you ready to discover God’s will for your life? The place to start is with the standard will of God for everyone—no exceptions. What is His standard will? God wants you to be saved. He desires you to faithfully read, study, and apply His Word. He desires for you to live a holy life in word, thoughts, and actions. His will for all requires a thankful, submissive, and surrendered heart to Him. Don’t expect God to reveal more of the specifics of His wonderful will to you unless you are obedient to His standard will for all—no exceptions.
